Alliance for Women in Media Announce:  Women with Solutions Award Honorees

Women’s Impact on the Media’s Role in Creating and Promoting   Careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to be Celebrated at Awards Breakfast July 24, 2014 (McLean, VA) – The Alliance for Women in Media is pleased to announce the Women with Solutions: STEM Leadership in Media award honorees. The latest in AWM’s Women Award Series, Women with Solutions will recognize women whose leadership on‐camera and in the board room has increased awareness and access to science, technology, engineering and math, especially to girls and young women. The honorees will be recognized during an exclusive event on October 28, 2014, at the Yale Club of New York City. “America’s science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) workforce is crucial to our innovative capacity and global competitiveness,” said Kay Olin, AWM Chair. “Yet, women are vastly underrepresented in STEM jobs and among STEM degree holders. AWM hopes recognition of the amazing work these honorees have accomplished will raise awareness and encourage more women to pursue careers in the STEM fields through education, leadership and content creation.”

AWM is proud to recognize woman who are making a difference for future generations by showing girls, through various media channels, that a career in STEM is not only possible for them, but also a desirable career path,” said Michelle Duke, AWM Foundation Director. “I’m looking forward to a high energy event full of idea sharing and inspiration.”
